On Wednesday 12th October year 3 and 4 took a coach to KLB School to enjoy an afternoon of multiskills. There were many other local schools taking part and the children had a fantastic time learning a variety of new games and skills.
After school on Wednesday 12th October some of the year 5 and 6 footballers took part in the first round of fixtures as part of the Cotswold Small School League. If you’d like to know more there is a detailed report available here to download.
On Wednesday 16th November, year 5 and 6 took part in sports hall athletics at KLB school. They had the opportunity to take part in many field and track events and try new equipment such as reversaboards. The children also looked very smart wearing our new Cotswold Small School Games green t-shirts for the first time.
On Tuesday 10th January 2017 Mrs Bates from KLB visited Horton for the day to provide Young Leader training to year 5 and 6. The children spent the morning learning about what characteristics are needed to be a successful leader and then got into groups to design games. In the afternoon they organised themselves into a carousel and taught these games to the infants. Lots of fun was had by all!

On Tuesday 19th January year 5 and 6 took part in the annual dodgeball tournament at Yate International playing other member of the Cotswold Small School cluster. The competition was tough but the children all had a fantastic time.
On Thursday 16th March the year 5 and 6 tag rugby team participated in the tag rugby festival at Dursley RFC along with 18 other teams. Due to new guidelines the event had to be a festival and not a competition therefore there would be no winners or medals. However Dursley RFC kindly decided to donate 12 brand new shirts to be awarded to the team which showed the best team spirit. During the course of the afternoon Horton showed compassion, perseverance, encouragement, friendship and forgiveness. Horton were chosen as the team who showed the best team spirit and won the new kit! We were all very proud of the team and their outstanding performance.
Year 4 and Finnley Thompson in year 3 took part in a tag rugby festival at the British School on the afternoon of Thursday 30th March 2017. All children played really well with Kiki Green and Harry Helliker being top try scorers!
On Tuesday 28th March 2017 the year 6 children travelled to Airhop to take part in the Jump Around Festival. 30 primary schools enjoyed the fun and energetic afternoon. The range of activities included dodgeball, battlebeam and wipeout as well as having plenty of free time to bounce on the hundreds of trampolines in Airhop’s main court area. The children all left sweaty, smiley and with goodie bags!
